Quality Electrical Services in Kingwood, TX
Kingwood’s Licensed and Insured Electricians
Time for an inspection?
It’s recommended by industry professionals that homeowners get their electrical systems inspected every few years, especially if your system is over ten years old. As Kingwood was one of the premier master-planned communities of the new millennia, many area homes are approaching their 20th birthday! While we celebrate the Kingwood area nearing 20 years of fantastic quality of life, we must also look inward— into our homes, that is.
If you notice problems like outlets that don’t work or lights that dim, flicker, or don’t turn on at all, these may be signs of faulty wiring or an issue with your breaker box. Although these problems may just seem like a nuisance at first, they could lead to larger malfunctions down the road. Electrical malfunctions can be dangerous, so it’s best to head it off at the pass and schedule an inspection to ensure everything is in good, working order for the safety of your family.

Providing Peace of Mind to Kingwood
John Moore is the name Houston-area homeowners have trusted for over 50 years! We first introduced ourselves to Houston as a plumbing company, where we provided our trademark reliable service. We worked with the Houston area for many years before the addition of HVAC services in 1997, and then pest control the following year. In 2005, we began hiring Houston’s top electricians and have since helped keep the lights on for thousands of Kingwood area homeowners and their families.
As a homeowner, it’s important to know when to call for a trained eye. Flickering lights, humming noises, or outlets that don’t work could be a sign of a bigger problem. If they go unaddressed for too long, you could be at risk of an electrical fire.
Notice: If you are currently dealing with sparking wires or an electrical fire, immediately call your power company and ask them to temporarily discontinue power to your home. Call the Kingwood Fire Department via 9-1-1 to extinguish any fires before you call John Moore.

Distribution Panel Inspection, Repairs, and Replacements
Much like your heart distributes blood to the various organs around your body, your home’s distribution panel divides and distributes electricity to the various light fixtures, appliances, and outlets around your home. Furthermore, your distribution panel also performs two critical safety functions: grounding excess electricity that enters the system, and turning off power to areas of your home that draw unsafe amounts of electricity. Some older distribution panels fail to shut power off in the event of a power surge, which could lead to a fire or explosion. Although many homes in Kingwood have been renovated over the past 20 years, you may want to check your distribution panel to ensure that it isn’t a model that has been recalled. If you do find that your distribution panel has been recalled, John Moore’s licensed electricians can replace it with a new, safe, fully functional panel.
Sometimes, components within your distribution panel can malfunction. Some examples are a short circuit, burnt-out fuses, or small explosions within you panel. If you have a circuit that won’t reset or notice burn marks on the face of your panel, chances are something within your distribution panel has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced. Unless you are a qualified electrician, you should never attempt to replace these parts yourself as you could be fatally electrocuted.

Kingwood Rewires for a Safer, Energy Efficient Home
Your home’s wiring is just as important as your breaker box, if not more so in some ways! Contemporary wiring systems are made of copper with a PVC insulation. Some older wiring systems were made of aluminum with rubber insulation, but this proved unsafe as aluminum has a tendency to overheat. Copper however, while still an electrical conductor, provides enough electrical resistance to ensure that it does not overheat. While this is safer than older wiring methods, it’s still important to have your homes wiring system regularly inspected as it gets older.
If your home was built before 1970, it may have that older aluminum wiring installed, which must be inspected and replaced to ensure safety. Alongside the problem of overheating, the aluminum wiring and rubber insulation is known to deteriorate over time. With Houston’s mild winters and hot and humid summers, rubber insulation is susceptible to becoming brittle and crumbling away, leaving wiring exposed, which could lead to a malfunction or even a fire.
No matter which form of wiring you have, you are still vulnerable to wiring mishaps, primarily from rodents and other pests that are known to chew through wires and their insulation. If you notice flickering lights, outlets that don’t work, or hear a buzzing sound from within your walls, then there may be an issue with your home’s wiring systems. As a company with expertise in many forms of home inspection, if we notice that rodents have chewed through your home’s wires, we can refer our pest control team to look into your rodent issue.
