John Moore: Katy’s Neighborhood Plumbers since 1965
Before Katy’s population boomed in the early 2000s with the development of neighborhoods like Cinco Ranch and Grand Lakes, John Moore plumbers were serving residents of Old Katy. Today, we are proud to provide our plumbing services to homeowners all across Katy and the Greater Katy Area, from clearing drain clogs to repiping homes to repairing main line sewer lines. Whether you’ve been a Katy resident for generations or just moved there in the past 10 years, John Moore knows that Katy homeowners- new and old- value their families and the quality of life their home provides them.
Unfortunately, as your home’s plumbing system ages, you might find that your home isn’t providing the same quality of life that it used to. Rust in your home’s galvanized pipes can lead to leaks that damage your walls and brown-tinted water coming out of your faucets; a main line blockage may send waste water back up through a tub drain in your home; and the quality of your home’s potable water may not be the best because- let’s face it- Houston’s water quality has never been the best.
If you find that your home’s plumbing is affecting you and your family’s quality of life, you can count on John Moore’s certified plumbers to restore comfort in your home.

Water Repiping: a Common Solution for Katy's Broken PVC, Leaky Copper & Rusty Galvanized Pipes
Many homes in Katy still use galvanized or PVC pipes to distribute potable water to drink, cook, wash with, and bathe in. Over time, both galvanized and PVC pipes will run into issues. After only about 5 or 10 years of use, galvanized pipes will start to rust from the inside out. Most of the time, the rust will eat way at the pipe until it makes a little pin-hole through the pipe where water will leak onto your ceiling and walls. These little holes can become clogged with rust, leading to reddish-brown marks or “scabs” on the outside of your pipe that will give way to larger leaks if not addressed. PVC pipes, on the other hand, rely on joint connections that can burst open after years of being under pressure.
If you notice water marks, rust-tinted water, or low water pressure in your home, it may be time to consider a horizontal or whole-home repipe. The difference between a horizontal repipe and a whole-home repipe is that during a horizontal repipe, our plumbers will only repipe the pipes that run in your attic, while in a whole-home repipe, they replace every pipe in your home. A whole-home repipe is the better solution in the long term because we will replace your home’s old galvanized or PVC potable water distribution system with PEX pipes. Unlike galvanized pipes, PEX doesn’t rust or decay. And because PEX piping is flexible and uses ProPEX® expansion fittings, you’ll never have to worry about bursts or ruptures. John Moore even includes a 25-year product warranty and a 10 year labor warranty* on whole-home repipes!

Water Quality Solutions for Katy Tap Water
Not only is Katy tap water filled with traces of contaminants like arsenic and uranium, it’s also known to be filled with minerals, making it some of the hardest water in the greater Houston area. Katy’s hard water damages fixtures, clothes and even your skin and hair. And, well, even small traces of contaminants can add up over time, affecting you and your families long-term health.
As our plumber’s put it, “you may not be able to control the water coming into your home, but you can can control how it comes out.” John Moore offers a range of water quality solutions such as whole-home water filters for cleaner drinking water; water softeners for gentle water to wash with and bathe in; and FlowTech descalers that prevent lime-scale buildup on fixtures and faucets.
