Many homes in Katy still use galvanized or PVC pipes to distribute potable water to drink, cook, wash with, and bathe in. Over time, both galvanized and PVC pipes will run into issues. After only about 5 or 10 years of use, galvanized pipes will start to rust from the inside out. Most of the time, the rust will eat way at the pipe until it makes a little pin-hole through the pipe where water will leak onto your ceiling and walls. These little holes can become clogged with rust, leading to reddish-brown marks or “scabs” on the outside of your pipe that will give way to larger leaks if not addressed. PVC pipes, on the other hand, rely on joint connections that can burst open after years of being under pressure.

One of the biggest home horrors is the smell and sight of waste-water coming back up through a tub or shower drain. This gross and unsanitary phenomenon is caused by a blockage in your home’s main sewer line, so that instead of your waste and greywater going down the tube to your city’s sanitation center, it comes back up into your home because it has nowhere else to go. John Moore’s solution to a main line blockage is to run an extra-strength plumber’s snake down your main line’s access point to poke a hole in the clog. After we allow some water to drain, we can then run a camera down the drain to identify the cause of the blockage. The four things that cause most main line stoppages are: a dip in your main line, offset concrete pipes, a rotted-through cast iron main line, and tree roots. Once we determine the cause and location of the blockage, we can then provide you with the best solution to prevent your main line from being clogged again, whether it’s a tunnel repair, spot repair, reslope, reroute, or completely replacing the main line.
