Sink Faucet Installation TipsEver have problems washing your bowl, wok, or other large item in your tiny kitchen sink? Or maybe you feel like your sink faucet doesn't exactly match the rest of your bathroom decor. Perhaps your old faucet is just .. old. Whatever your reason, a new sink faucet in your kitchen, bathroom, or anywhere else in your house is a great way to spruce up your room and add some value to your everyday life. Better yet, installing a new sink faucet doesn't have to be a headache. Here are some steps and things to keep in mind when installing your new faucet:

  • Start your sink faucet replacement project by shutting off the water supply underneath the sink. Open the tap to drain any excess water and release pressure.
  • Use a basin wrench to disconnect both the hot and cold water supply lines at the base of the faucet. Once they're loose, lift up the sink. You may need to use a knife to remove excess caulking, if you're having trouble lifting the sink.
  • Installation will vary depending on what type of sink you have and what type of faucet you purchased. So, follow the instructions provided with your new faucet to ensure a correct installation, as they may vary from sink to sink. Just be sure to secure any washers and lock nuts underneath the sink after installation, so your water lines are properly connected to your new faucet. Before using your new faucet, remove and clean the faucet aerator to allow any debris to be washed away. And don't forget to turn your water supply back on.
