John Moore Helps Local Veteran Rebuild After Hurricane Harvey

Web Staff Community Involvement, News

Years ago, Stephen Meredith answered his nation’s call and proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His military service was highly decorated, and he was voted Veteran of the Year in the past decade.  Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey hit and flooded Meredith’s home with 8 feet of water.  Ever since then, he has been unable to live in his home.

Meredith’s friends, neighbors, and church were all trying to help him get out of the FEMA trailer he was living in and get back into his permanent home.  The John Moore team wanted to help.

For weeks, John Moore plumbers and technicians have been volunteering their time to repair and repipe Meredith’s home.  Safety features and renovations to improve accessibility were implemented so that his home would better accommodate his current health and mobility needs.

We would like to thank John Moore team members Frank Wasily, David Lawrence, Troy Watts, Justin Strain, and Donny Martin for volunteering their time and for all of their hard work, service, and dedication to Meredith and this project.  Thank you to our plumbing supplier, Coburns, who has generously donated the materials for the project.

It is truly a labor of love for all involved, and we are counting the days until our new friend will be able to return to his home.

Happy Veterans Day, Mr. Meredith! It is an honor to be able to repay you for your service and sacrifice.
