Aggie Receives First Ever John Moore ‘Get Moore Scholarship’
Houston, TX (August 30, 2016) – Houston-area home services leader John Moore Services has awarded Kyran Bracey with its first ever Get Moore Scholarship. Bracey, an incoming freshman at Texas A&M University, will be awarded $2000 toward his education for his hard work and tenacity in the face of adversity.
“My mother, a single woman raising five children, graduated from University of Houston with her bachelor’s degree while working full-time,” said Bracey. “I’m grateful for this scholarship because it is another step in the right direction to building a life for myself and becoming a positive role model like my mother.”
Hannah Valentine, who champions the John Moore Scholarship initiative along with Claire Valentine stated:
“In the fast-paced, challenging nature of our business where we have to respond at any given moment, the John Moore family can truly appreciate the power of tenacity and a positive attitude. And Kyran clearly demonstrates the initiative to overcome and turn life’s challenges into learning opportunities.”
John Moore’s management team established the Get Moore Scholarship in April 2016 to help aspiring young adults in pursuit of higher education and their life goals. Applicants within the Greater Houston are selected each year based on an essay submission and GPA.
Kyran started at Texas A&M this fall and is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Another goal he has set for himself is to “graduate with honors.” Eventually, he wants to start a family of his own.
In addition to the John Moore Scholarship, the Company also introduced John Moore Tech in 2016, a work-readiness program that addresses a growing concern in the U.S. job market: the shortage of skilled trade workers. According to Plumbing and Hydronic Contractor News, over half of America’s skilled trade employees are nearing retirement age. With a need for more plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, and other trades, the program provides an internship with hands-on, on-site training to trade school students. John Moore Tech celebrated its first graduating class in May 2016, which launched 100 interns of work-ready HVAC techs into the job market. The majority of interns were offered HVAC positions at John Moore. The Company plans on expanding the training program for the plumbing and electrical trades.
Applicants for the John Moore Scholarship can apply now by following these requirements.
